MEGA MOVE

Woodpigeons on the move this morning from first light all heading s/sw aprox number 16,500,but i missed loads.Largest group must have been aprox 1500 birds but there were so many birds in the sky it could easily have been 2000+. Starlings also in small direct squadrons about 400+,Redwings 200,Fieldfare 80, StockDove 8,LBBGull 1,Common Gull/BHGull 500+,Mipits 3 and Finches in small numbers mainly Chaffinch and Goldies

I was at the wrong side of the hill at Fly Flatts with empty skies apart from 20 Wigeon>SW and a few squadrons of Starlings >NW.
The Woodpigs must have been an awesome sight.

Its was brilliant..my best day for Woodpigs by miles ,would have gone over 20000 if I had'nt had to take the kids to footie............Widgeon were a good un..

Brilliant Andy... coming through here broad front and out of Lancashire as well to add to the storm.... well quelled today tho but as always they will come again!

Thanks Dave , it is so spectacular when it happens,just as amazing as Starlings going to roost or Knot massing over the evening sky.The first flock I saw looked like a perfectly round tennis ball moving through the sky...looks like mist all week so hopefully we will get a break in the weekend window...???
