Sunday afternoon

9 Skylarks,12 herring Gulls drifted west,1Jack Snipe flushed again,1 Grey wagtail over,11 stock doves, 30 Fieldfare,1 male Sprwk and 1 male Kestrel.

Red Letter day

Two Buzzards high in the sky and in the valley below Northowram today was a great sight also 2 Grey partridge were firsts for northowram and a Jack Snipe was my second.2 Skylarks and my first Mipit of the year calling overhead was a real treat.40 Fieldfare are the last remaining thrushes from last weeks influx and the starlings are gone but the 25 + Linnets are still around.28 Pinkfeet on thursday and a few Herring Gulls still heading west.A pair of Stock Doves seem to be settling in the old barn again.

Stock Doves

A good count of 26 stock Doves today, sining Greefinches,3 Mistle Thrush,4 skylarks,250 starlings 500+ mixed flock of Redwings and fieldfare,3 Herring Gulls 1 adult,1 second winter and a 1st winter.100 + Common Gulls 95% adults.A few BH Gulls now showing black heads.No sign of Nordic Jackdaw since the day Dave last saw it at Shibden.

Tuesday, warm S/W livens things up.

Northowram is still busy with fieldfare and redwings,also today a large influx of Starlings with 250+ in the fields,best birds today were 4 Skylark and an adult lesser Black backed Gull mixed in with 120 common Gull and 2 linnets.
Ogden back lane had 2 female type Crossbills over and 1 calling from the pines,20 Golden Plover and a Herring Gulls west.
soil hILL 10 Plus sklarks,32 Linnets,3 Fieldfare,10 starlings and 3 Snow Bunts,
3 sklarks in horse paddock by the Raggalds and 100 Lapwing in usual spot.

Fieldfare

at the begining of the week about 70 had been kicking around for a few weeks ,this morning this had swelled to about 500 +.A few redwings and stalings mixed in .5 Great and 1 lesser Black backed Gulls moved west around lunch time.House sparrows have been displaying and nest building this week.

Freezing rain.......

Pretty grim weatherwise today...Nordic jackdaw showed well early morning and 14 herring Gulls south.1 Golden Plover (prob northern type)with splendid black belly ,4 lapwing,70 fieldfare ,45 Woodpigeon, 40 redwing in some excellent fields behind Old brods,a small flock of passerines looked like Sparrows but missed um..........Cromwell Bottom feeding station is just fantastic for having great views of Lesser redpolls ,no mealys yet though.I also watched a male goosdander displaying on the river which was a first for me.

Last couple of days

Monday saw at least 103 Herring Gull,3 GBBGull and 1 LBBGull moving north,also 1 skylark and a record of 32 Stock Doves.
4 snow Bunting,6 skylark and 9 Linnets Soil Hill today.
8 Lesser Redpoll ,6 Bullfinch at Cromwell Bottom feeding station,well done to whoever set that up.brilliant views of redpolls.100 Lapwing at Shelf moor

Nordic Jackdaw no show

No sightings of the Nordic Jackdaw today but my first local skylark,28 Linnets ,21 stock Doves,2 Kestrel and 50+ Common Gulls.150 jackdaws went to roost at 4.35 so it could well be still around.

Jackdaw and Whoopers

Another good day with the Nordic/Eastern Jackdaw showing well all day with NCD,Dave S and Martyn all getting good views of the bird,It realy is a striking individual.Thaks for the photos .2 whooper swans flew west,7 Herring and 3 great BB Gulls east,21 Stock Doves and 30 Common Gulls today.

Jackdaw

The Nordic/russian type jackdaw showed well today from first light till 9ish then went over the road to the horse fields for the rest of the day and returned about 4ish till dusk.1 linnet over,20 Goldfinch and about 35 Rooks.
