It's a great view-point and it pays off for the birds with a bit of persistence as D Br has ably demonstrated this last week or two and others have done in the past. It's turned up some great birds over the years.
Swales is pretty good as a viewpoint >S >E and >W but Soil Hill and Q'bury are in the way looking north!! It's a shame the habitat has gone off at Swales though Soil Hill is still pretty good but it could be better if the vegetation on top was a bit sparser with some scrapes and bare ground in places.
Some amazing view points from up there, especially in winter when its crystal clear. You can actually see coast to coast with the Humber Bridge at one side and Southport at the other.
When we used to check the gull roost at TMR in the near dark you could see the floodlights on York Minster and during vis mig watch the sun lights up Malham Cove.
Ah Malham Cove I will look for that next and York MInster...The Humber Bridge was easy to find today , just too far for my camera to pick it up..You can see it from the red brick air rain shelter as you come into Queensbury from Northowram...fantastic
Bri ......get Big Bertha focused on Humber Bridge if you get chance ...could do with a decent image...cheers
Waiting for these hazy skies to clear but will do
