RED KITE

Its taken about 37 years of looking to see a Red Kite locally and today, I saw it out of my living room window and then from the back garden a beautiful adult with forked red tail and grey head .An adult male Merlin watched hunting meadow Pipits,Buzzards ,sand Martins, displaying Sparrowhawk,Kestrels and ravens in another part of Calderdale, all in all a real red letter day..................

Hello! I'm a new follower. I love those beautiful kites too. Fortunately the population of red kite in Denmark has increased during the latest ten years in Denmark. Also the white-tailed eagle and the golden eagle-population has increased, and we've seen more peregrine falcons the last two years. Birds of prey are so beautiful. Best wishes Thyra

Please see "my" red kite here:

Hej!Thanks for reply. I've got a question because I sometimes writes about birds. When do you use the word raptor and when bird of prey? I'm so very much in doubt about this.
Thanks in advance when you've got time. Cheers Thyra.
