11 Shelduck flew over the road on my way up to Ringstone and landed on the shoreline but little else.1 adult and 10 juvs
Headed over to Scammonden to see if there was any vis-mig to be had but the wind was cold and little was moving. Bumped into JB and John was of the same mind set quiet although he had had Groppers and Sedge Warbler in the usual spot. I had managed 2 Willow Warbler and John the same..
We headed out of the wind and were lucky to catch a male Redstart flip out of one of the hawthorns and a smaller warbler flew low and out of sight , we followed it for the next 10 minutes getting very brief views but both mentioned a possible Lesser Whitethroat. We sat down and watched the area it was last seen , 10 minutes later a cracking Lesser whitethroat came into view .a great species locally.
Next Willow Warblers and Chiff chaffs stated popping out of the hawthorns and then a Spot Fly . Very pleased with ourselves we headed in different directions , I then came across 2 juv Redstarts , 2 more Spot fly's a handful of Willow Warblers , Whitethroat and 1 Chiff. Great Spot , Jay , Kestrel (2 juvs) , Buzzard , Stonechats , Cole Tits , Bullfinch , Meadow Pipit and Swallows made for a great morning....
JB great photo of Lesser Whitethroat
