toay I walked down the valley and flushed 4 yes 4 woodcocks along the stream realy good views.also a Roe Deer faced up to my youngest son it actually crossed the field and was within 50 feet of him at one point, with antles at the ready,he charged it and it ran off for cover.Great spots,Stock Doves and loads of rabbits.
Doing well for Woodcock this year Andy - always a great bird.
ReplyDeleteI reckon there are up to 6 in the valley..
ReplyDeleteBetter come birding with you I think, I struggle with Woodcock!
ReplyDeleteBoth the areas I have found woodcock are boggy with very little human activity.
ReplyDeleteI also reckon that woodcock are one of our most common winter visitors/breeders,I have seen them displaying at Withens Clough,Hinchcliffe arms,Knott wood, castle Carr, hardcatle craggs ,and wintering at Northowram , EGP and Shibden.
