28th Sept 2020


A walk up to top Whiteholme reservoir ,was very quiet for most of the time but the last Rowan before the dam wall was busy with , 2 Ring Ouzel , 2 Goldcrest , 4 Chaffinch , 1 Chiffchaff , 3 Blackbird (1 all jet black beak  looked continental) , Robin , Great Tit ,6 Mistle Thrush and a very grey continental looking Song Thrush...Also seen 4 Buzzard , 4 Kestrel , 2 Barn Owl , 4 Stonechat , 3 Teal , 70 + Red Grouse, 1 Tawny Owl at Widdop Gate  and a few Meadow Pipits . Grey Heron at Hollas Bridge today....

 Ringstone held a Ringed Plover , 4 Cormorants..and the usual species , a quick look at the Black Redstart on Soil Hill and the up on the tops , 2/3 HH , Wheatear , 10 Stonechats ,15 Mistle Thrush , 4 Goldies  and a beautiful Barn Owl

A fantastic Hobby hunting Pipits and Wagtails along the dam wall , Buzzard , Merlin , first Widgeon of the  autumn ,a craking White Wagtail , Mistle Thrush , Stonechat  and a few Swallows heading south...

Early September catch upi

Ogden on Thusrday , 3 Great Crested Grebe , 2 Cormorant , 1 juv Green Woodpecker , 1 Barn Owl hunting in the newly planted  trees very close to main car park.
On the hills produced a very interesting pale/albino / Hen Harrier looked large like a female but white..? 2 Barn Owls hunting and plenty Swallows and Meadow Pipits on the move.....
Up to 9 Pied Wags on the Cricket pitch , 2 Buzzards most days , Sparrowhawk , 5 House martin on Friday and plenty Swallows south...
10th September....Ringstone....3 Teal  , 2 great crested and 2 Little Grebe , 1 fem Sparrowhawk , 15 BH and 2 LB Gull , 6 Swallows , 5 Siskin , 2 Bullfinch and 4 mallard...

 A flock of 80 + Goldfinch , 1 Chifchaff , 5 Swallows south , this very smart Sparrowhawk and the local Stag Roe Deer............1 Large White was all i could find.....
